Santa Maria-style Barbeque, a Cowboy tradition at the great California Ranchos of the 1800's. Simple seasonings and quality ingredients make for a comfortable feast.
This robust barbeque rewarded vaqueros, California's first cowboys, in celebrating a successful Spring round-up. While your guests relax under the trees drinking a cool beverage, enjoying our fabulous sunshine, big slabs of beef are flavored just right, and grilled over open flames to perfection. Sliced thin, and served with generous portions of fresh salsa, and Santa Maria-style beans, it is a meal to remember, as the wonderful aroma of of the big grill fills the afternoon air. These days, we might add in some tender chicken or grilled shrimp and vegetables, to be sure we take care of all our guests.
Gathering around the grill is a great way to spend a day. No wonder why Santa Maria-style barbeque was one of President and Nancy Reagan's favorite ways to entertain at their Santa Barbara ranch.
